Floor Laying Qualifications

FITA is able to offer a range of support to floor layers in obtaining NVQ's in floor laying disciplines. There are two main routes that we are able to guide fitters through.

  1. On site assessments (OSAT)
On-site assessments are carried out within the normal working environment and pre-qualification paperwork is also generally created at a location convenient to the learner. Suitable for experience workers who need to gain an NVQ without significant requirements for further training. Can be completed within a min of 16 weeks.

2.Our specialist up-skilling programme (SUP)
Only suitable for experienced floor layers who would benefit from or welcome some additional training. The SUP has the added attraction that some of the evidence to support the NVQ is generated during training and so can make the creation of a portfolio, and thus the NVQ assessment process, much quicker. The SUP is delivered at the FITA training centre and includes five days of intensive training leading to a NVQ level 2 through the OSAT route. The SUP must be completed within 12 months of registration but can be completed much quicker if desired.

Funding may be available.

The qualifications are suitable for both domestic and commercial installers.

Membership of the CFA or NICF is NOT required to register for the programme as is NOT a requirement for funding eligibility.

All skilled workers are increasingly required to obtain the appropriate CSCS cards to be able to work for clients and most main contractors, who require them to gain access to site. In turn, to obtain a "skilled worker" or blue CSCS card, you MUST have an NVQ level 2. Other CSCS cards, e.g. the green or labourers card, are no longer accepted or renewed for those who are actively involved in the installation of floor coverings

See http://www.cscs.uk.com

*Pre qualification is required to assess eligibility for the NVQ assessment. Conditions apply and limited funding may be available. For further questions on CSCS cards, NVQ's, funding and the best route for you or your work force to gain an NVQ, please contact FITA on tel 0115 950 6836 or email info@fita.co.uk
