Alternative Flooring - Natural Floorcoverings

In partnership with Alternative Flooring, this course is designed to broaden an installers skills set to include natural fibre materials breaking down the myths associated with installing natural floorcoverings such as sisal, seagrass, coir and jute. Training Includes various stair installation techniques, flat areas and joins using Alternative Flooring products.

• How British Standards BS 5325 (Textile/Carpet) affects natural floorcoverings
• Recognition of subfloor types and how they affect installation (overview)
• Different subfloor moisture testing equipment
• Subfloor preparation options including fabricated underlays, DPM’s, primers and smoothing compounds (overview)
• Room shapes and their effect on the installation
• The tools, equipment and PPE required for natural floorcoverings
• Correct material selection including gripper, underlay, natural products, adhesives and finishes
• An overview of all Alternative Flooring products in the range

• Proper use of tools, equipment and PPE
• Accurate installation methods for double stick underlays, gripper, adhesives and finishes
• The setting out and aligning of natural floorcoverings before installation
• Installation of natural floorcoverings using the double stick method to flat area and stairs (waterfall and upholstered)
• Accurate joining and seaming processes for natural floorcoverings
• The limitation on natural floorcoverings during installation

• Confidence in correct products, tools and equipment selection when working with natural floorcoverings
• Increased belief in the ability to install Alternative Flooring – Natural Floorcoverings
• Self-confidence to correctly advise customers on installation of Alternative Flooring - Natural Floorcoverings
