Wood Flooring Installation - Intermediate
This course is designed to improve on already gained skills of a wood flooring installer and the approaches to more complex installations and techniques including glue-down method. A ‘must do’ course for those wanting to add to their skills, revenue and range of work they can undertake.

Knowledge
- An introduction to British Standards BS 8201 (Timber Floors)
- Recognition of subfloor types and how they affect installation
- Basic subfloor moisture testing and equipment (overview)
- Subfloor preparation options including fabricated underlays, DPM’s, primers, smoothing compounds and renovation systems
- The tools, equipment and PPE required
- Correct material selection including subfloor and finishing profiles
- Wood floor products, how they behave and their limitations
- Effects on the products based on its environment – Acclimatization
- Room shapes and their effect on the installation
Skills
- Proper use of tools, equipment and PPE
- Accurate installation methods for subfloor and finishing profiles
- Correct preparation of wooden subfloor (fabricated underlays)
- An introduction to Setting out, underfloor heating, door profiles and architrave preparation
- Correct installation of wood floors including 90â—¦ and 45, board replacement and perimeter finishing
- How to ensure customers are aware of the recommended maintenance of wood floors to ensure longevity

- The ability to reassure customers that using the techniques outlined will ensure work is quality assured
