FITA is pleased to announce that it is now able to offer a route to an NVQ in installation of Impervious flooring which includes 6 days of training. This programme is called the Specialist Up-skilling Programme or 'SUP' and has been developed in conjunction with the CFA and the CITB.
Who is a SUP designed for?
• Experienced fitters to gain an NVQ level 2 in impervious (sheet vinyl) flooring.
• The SUP is not available to new industry entrants.
• Eligibility criteria relating to existing qualifications may apply.
Why does a fitter need an NVQ level 2?
• Like any qualification, an NVQ is used by industry, employers and clients to give an indication of competence.
• An NVQ level 2 is also a requirement when obtaining a blue CSCS card.
The blue CSCS card is the correct card for an experienced worker fitting floors and CSCS have recently announced that from July 2014 the green “labourers” card will require a separate (non flooring related) qualification.
Why is a SUP different to other routes to an NVQ level 2?
• The SUP includes 6 days of formal training delivered by FITA. Three blocks of two days providing underpinning knowledge to help the fitter being assessed to pass the NVQ assessment.
• Once the training has been completed, an onsite assessment will be carried out with the aim of awarding an NVQ level 2.
How long does the whole process take?
• The SUP training is designed to fit around the busy lives of fitters and contractors.
• The whole process must be completed within twelve months.
How much does it cost?
• The SUP costs £2200 per person and is delivered by FITA. VAT does not apply if funded.
• CITB Levy paying companies can claim back £2625.
• Available for non funded companies but the cost from FITA remains at £2200 + VAT per person.
• CFA discounts for FITA courses do not apply.
