This one-day workshop is designed for component installers looking to develop their skills and improve the quality of their workmanship on carpet joins including repairs

• The tools, equipment and PPE required
• knowledge of British Standards BS 5325 (Textile/Carpet) and why it should be followed
• The importance of correct material selection including underlay, carpet, adhesive and finishes
• An introduction to various joining methods
• The limitation on products and tools during installation

• Proper use of tools, equipment and PPE
• Accurate joint preparation including row finding and correct cutting methods
• How to apply edge sealers
• Different joining methods and techniques including heat seam, Silvaseam and Koolglide
• How to Join plain and patterned carpet (including pattern alignment)

• Confidence in correct products, tools and equipment selection
• The ability to reassure customers that using the techniques outlined will ensure work is quality assured
• Self-confidence to correctly advise customers on location of joins
